A Raleigh, North Carolina native, Pendergrass moved to Nashville to study commercial music at Belmont University. At the end of 2020, Pendergrass got word he earned a coveted spot on Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album with “865”. He was the only un-signed writer on the 30-song project. Back Blocks Music announced the signing of its flagship songwriter Blake Pendergrass to an exclusive, worldwide publishing agreement in 2021.
Blake Pendergrass went from “865” to 8 songs on Morgan Wallen’s One Thing At A Time, including “Dying Man” and “Ain’t That Some”, moving on to have 15 cuts on Wallen’s newest album, I’m The Problem, including a 100% solo write, “The Dealer (feat. ERNEST). Blake has hit country radio with 8 songs in the past year including 4 No. 1 songs; Jelly Roll’s “Heart Of Stone”, and Morgan Wallen’s “20 Cigarettes,”“I Got Better” and “Just In Case,” going #1 on country radio for 4 consecutive weeks. Blake is also a part of three Grammy nominated albums with Lainey Wilson’s “Broken Hearts Still Beat”, Post Malone’s “Who Needs You”, Conner Smith’s “Steal My Thunder (feat. Tucker Wetmore) [From Twisters: The Album]”, and 7 songs on Jelly Roll’s Gramming winning album, Beautifully Broken.
